# Facilitator Pricing

> PayAI Facilitator pricing — free credits, cost-plus per-settlement rates by network, and credits

<Note>
  Cost-plus pricing has been live since 21 September 2026: each settlement costs the
  network's on-chain gas plus 30%, testnet settlements are free, and credits stay at
  **\$0.001 each**. The table below is refreshed daily — the authoritative copy is always
  [facilitator.payai.network/pricing](https://facilitator.payai.network/pricing).
</Note>

## Free Credits

Ordinary exact payments can start within the free allowance below.

<Card title="Free" icon="gift">
  **\$0/month**

  * **1,000 free credits per receiving wallet (lifetime)** — roughly 650 Solana or 430 Base
    settlements at the rates below
  * No API key required for ordinary exact payments
  * Testnet settlements are free and do not consume the allowance
</Card>

<Note>
  Free credits are counted per receiving wallet. Requests from shared hosts or IP
  addresses (e.g. shared cloud platforms) also draw from a shared pool, so those
  deployments may reach the limit sooner — obtain a key and top up credits before
  reaching the applicable limit. Some older receiving wallets retain
  a legacy allowance of 10,000 credits; the 1,000-credit figure is the current
  default for new wallets, not a monthly reset. Settlements made before 21 September
  2026 count as 1 credit each toward the allowance.
</Note>

Get started immediately with zero setup. Jump to the [quickstart](/x402/quickstart) to start building.

<Note>
  [Solana batch settlement](/x402/servers/batch-settlement) can use the public shared lane without an API key. Its on-chain legs count against the same receiving-wallet and shared free-tier allowances. Use an API key and credits beyond that allowance or for an assigned enterprise lane. The allowance is separate from portal credits and ATA setup costs.
</Note>

## Beyond the Free Credits

Beyond the free allowance, each settlement costs the facilitator's **on-chain gas for that
network plus 30%**, paid in credits:

<Card title="Cost-plus, per settlement" icon="coins">
  **price = network gas cost × 1.30**, converted to credits at \$0.001 per credit and rounded
  up to the nearest 0.01 credit
</Card>

The facilitator measures what it actually pays in gas on each network and recomputes the
rates daily from the current gas and native-token prices. A rate is republished only when it
moves by more than 5%. Testnets are always 0.

### Current rates (refreshed daily)

Snapshot of 22 September 2026, 11:11 UTC. The daily refresh moves these with the chain, so
treat [the live table](https://facilitator.payai.network/pricing) as authoritative.

| Network | Scheme | Credits per settlement | USD |
| - | - | -: | -: |
| Solana mainnet | exact | 1.52 | \$0.00152 |
| Solana mainnet | upto — open and claim, each | 1.52 | \$0.00152 |
| Solana mainnet | batch settlement — deposit, claim, refund, each | 1.52 | \$0.00152 |
| Solana mainnet | batch settlement — settle | 0.76 | \$0.00076 |
| Base | exact (EIP-3009) | 2.31 | \$0.00231 |
| Base | exact (Permit2) | 2.18 | \$0.00218 |
| Polygon | exact | 4.42 | \$0.00442 |
| Arbitrum | exact | 6.63 | \$0.00663 |
| Avalanche | exact | 0.10 | \$0.00010 |
| Sei | exact | 0.59 | \$0.00059 |
| Base Sepolia, Solana devnet, Polygon Amoy, Avalanche Fuji, Sei testnet, Arbitrum Sepolia, X Layer testnet, SKALE testnet | any | 0 | free |

These figures were computed from measured gas and the token prices of 22 September 2026
(SOL $116.60, ETH $2,739.75). Batch settlement and `upto` are priced per
on-chain transaction, so a channel's lifecycle is the sum of its legs.

<Note>
  The facilitator fee is separate from the price your API charges its customer.
  Payment amounts must satisfy the advertised payment requirements and the
  selected scheme's rules. Batch channel deposits have their own
  [limits](/x402/servers/batch-settlement); they are not the price of each API request.
</Note>

### Reading the live table

`GET https://facilitator.payai.network/pricing` returns the current rates and any
upcoming change with its effective time. `GET /supported` carries the same object under
`pricing`, so a server can read the price for the network it is about to use.

## Credit System

To maintain access beyond the free allowance, autonomous agents can [purchase credits and receive an API key programmatically over x402](/x402/facilitators/agent-api-keys), with no portal signup. PayAI creates a wallet-owned agent account during the purchase. A paying wallet already linked to a portal account receives credits but not a new agent key; manage that account's keys in the portal. Humans can instead use the optional [merchant dashboard](https://merchant.payai.network).

* **1 credit = \$0.001**; a settlement debits its network's rate in credits (fractional credits are normal)
* **Credits never expire**

The merchant portal currently applies a **10% discount** when buying credits with
`$PAYAI` on Solana. Review the displayed quote before paying. This credit-purchase
discount is separate from the token and price your service accepts from its
customers; customers do not need `$PAYAI` to use an API priced in USDC.

Enterprise (invoiced) accounts are billed at the same rate card unless their agreement
sets a different margin.

## Comparison

| | Free | Beyond Free |
| - | - | - |
| **Facilitator fee** | \$0 within the allowance | Network gas + 30%, in credits |
| **Included** | 1,000 credits per receiving wallet (lifetime) | Unlimited (credit-based) |
| **API key required** | No for ordinary exact payments or the public Solana batch lane | Yes beyond the allowance or for assigned lanes |
| **Credits** | Not required | 1 credit = \$0.001 |
| **Credit expiry** | — | Never |
| **Dashboard access** | Not required | Optional; agents can use [x402 key vending](/x402/facilitators/agent-api-keys) |

## How to get started

1. Follow the [quickstart](/x402/quickstart) for ordinary exact payments, or the [batch guide](/x402/servers/batch-settlement) for public metered payments
2. When you're ready to scale beyond the free allowance, [buy credits and receive a key over x402](/x402/facilitators/agent-api-keys) with no portal signup, or use the optional [merchant dashboard](https://merchant.payai.network)
3. Store your API key ID and one-time secret securely. If the paying wallet is already linked to a portal account, the vending payment adds credits only; manage its keys in the dashboard
4. Set the environment variables in your server:

```env theme={null}
PAYAI_API_KEY_ID=your-key-id
PAYAI_API_KEY_SECRET=your-key-secret
```

If you're using `@payai/facilitator` (used throughout the TypeScript server guides), your server will automatically authenticate with the facilitator — no code changes needed.

```typescript theme={null}
import { facilitator } from "@payai/facilitator";
import { HTTPFacilitatorClient } from "@x402/core/server";
// Automatically uses API keys from environment when available
const facilitatorClient = new HTTPFacilitatorClient(facilitator);
```

<Note>
  Rates track the chains' gas and token prices and are refreshed daily; material changes
  are announced ahead of their effective time on the live table. Visit
  [facilitator.payai.network/pricing](https://facilitator.payai.network/pricing) for the
  latest figures.
